1.Screw Diameter (D)

A.Related to required amount of injection:

Injection volume=1/4* PI *D2*S( injection stroke) *0.85;

B.In general, screw diameter D varies inversely with maximum injection pressure and varies directly with plasticizing capacity proportional.


2.Conveying Section

A.Responsible for the delivery of plastic, pushing and preheating, reheating to the melting point should be ensured;

B. Crystalline plastics should be long (such as: POM, PA) ,amorphous material less (such as: PS, PU, ABS), the most sensitive shortest (such as: PVC).


3.Compression Section

A. Responsible for the mixing, compression and press to exhaust gas.Nearly all of the raw materials have been melted through this section but not necessarily evenly mixed;

B. In this region, as the raw material gradually melt, the volume of the groove must be decreased accordingly to correspond with the decline of raw material in geometric volume, otherwise the material is not solidly pressed and may cause slow heat transfer and poor exhaust;

C. This section generally accounts for more than 25% of screw length, but nylon (crystalline material) compression section takes about 15% of screw working length.High viscosity, fire resistance, low conductivity and high plastic additives screw takes 40% to 50% screw length.PVC screw can be accounted for 100% of the working length of screw, so as to avoid the intense shear heat.


4. Metering Section

A. This section generally accounts for 20% to 25% screw working length to ensure that all the raw material are melted and the temperature is uniform and mixed uniform;

B.Long metering section brings good mixing effect. But if it is too long,then it is easy to melt and brings thermal decomposition.If it is too short,then it`s easy to make the temperature not uniform;

C. PVC and other sensitive plastic should not stay too long to avoid thermal decomposition, short metering section or not metering section is preferred.


5. Screw Groove Feed Depth, Measuring Screw Groove Depth

A. The deeper feeding groove depth, the greater the amount of delivery,but the the strength of screw need considering.The shorter the screw channel depth,the higher the plasticizing fever and mixing performance index.But if the measurement of groove depth is too shallow, the shear heat increases.Once the authigenic heat increase too much and the temperature rises too high,it will bring discoloration or plastic burning for raw material , especially not conducive to heat sensitive plastics.

B. Measuring Screw Depth =KD= (0.03'0.07) *D

D increase, then small value of K is selected.
